KATHERINE FRUSHER, 16, from Rodborough, was presented with the individual Nairac Award for her efforts in the community at a St George’s Day ceremony at Gloucester Cathedral.

Katherine is a young leader with the 3rd Rodborough Brownies and a member of Deer Park Archers in Cowley.

The awards ceremony is held in memory of Captain Robert Nairac, who was honoured with the posthumous award of the George Cross – the highest honour for gallantry in peacetime – after disappearing on his second tour of duty in Northern Ireland in 1977.

Katherine has chosen to share her award cheque between Asthma UK and the Deer Park Archers’ land purchase fund for their new base.

CONGRATULATIONS to Lucy Mason who was beaten by only one other young archer – Sally Gilder from the Evesham Archery Club – in a national competition which allocates points for every aspect of competitive archery during 2013 from success in competitions at all levels, national records, handicap improvement etc.

WELL done to Chloe A’Bear for a county record and to Nicole Deasy (481), Charlotte Lunt (598), Connie Healey (632) and Dave Sandles (414) for all winning gold in their categories at the Cheltenham Archers Easter Bunny charity shoot.
