OF ALL the away matches Cirencester play the match at Ross is approached with the lowest expectations. The tree-lined fairways reward local knowledge and the greens are a mystery to most visiting teams.

Ross-on-Wye 6
Cirencester 2
The match on April 23 was no exception and Ross won by 6-2.
This bare statistic disguises a rather closer contest than is usually the case. Although Cirencester lost two matches by wide margins – one by the demon 'dog license' (7&6) – all of the other matches were closely fought.
A solid win came from John Canty and Gordon Stone and there were two halved matches via Roy Lipscombe and Pat Waldron as well as Alan Dymond and Graham Morgan.
John Pugh and Patrick Moylan took their match to the last hole as did Seniors' captain Clive Bennett and John Parsons.
