JENNY MANNERS has helped a three-strong Great Britain women’s team to a silver medal at the World University Triathlon Championships in Brazil.
Jenny, from Cirencester, was joined in the team by fellow Loughborough University student Lucy Smith and Heather Sellars from the University of Leeds.
Heather took a brilliant individual silver medal in 2hr 16min 31sec behind the Hungarian winner Zsofia Kovacks (2:16.04), while Lucy came home in eighth (2:20.52) and Jenny 18th (2:32.03).
It was the 12th running of the World University Triathlon Championships and was contested by around 50 athletes from 12 countries (Australia, Brazil, United States, Slovakia, Great Britain, Singapore, Chinese Taipei, Hungary, Switzerland, Turkey, Japan and the Czech Republic).
The race was held on Brasilia’s Paranoá Lake of Brasilia and on the JK Bridge that crosses the lake.
