Ray Rhymes Series 10-mile Time Trial

The wind speed was very fast on the outgoing run but so strong that the two-lap return rides were desperately hard and reduced speeds to low averages except for the exceptionally strong competitors such as Yates (first), Andy Morgan (second) and Michael Cashman (third) who took the podium positions.

It was good to see Yates back in such good form having recovered from a broken collar bone which wrecked his 2013 season.

Gerry Peppin rode well on his training diet of several hard-rider events to take fourth place in 25.51 followed by Mark Foyn (26.03), who was surprisingly fast given that he has done little road miles this year.

Mark was followed closely by Trevor Hodges in sixth place at 26.06. Seventh saw Paul Fuchs at 27.00 with vet Allan Norwood next in 27.46, almost exactly his opening time last season.

Stephen Chapman made a rare appearance to finish ninth at 28.02 followed by Dave Miatt (31.10), hard working membership recorder John Whittaker (31.22), Marguerite Miatt (32.13) and Terry Barry, on his mountain bike, in 34.49.

It was so good to see Terry racing again. Sadly, serious illness has kept him away in recent years but he has returned with a vengeance.

In the ladies' series, Marguerite Miatt leads as the only lady competitor while in the Vet+ series (over 40s) Steve Yates leads on +4.01 with Andy Morgan second at +3.12 and Allan Norwood third with +2.22.
