BRADFORD’S ample supply of able replacements proved too much for a tiring Minety seconds.

Dorset & Wilts Div Three North

Bradford-on-Avon II 25

Minety II 5

The home team were first on the score board with a try just five minutes into the game, but the visitors were soon striking back.

When Bradford telegraphed a long pass just two minutes after they had scored, Minety’s Gareth Roberts was swift to pounce. His interception caught the hosts napping and he was able to gallop away for a try.

The game remained evenly balanced until the half hour mark, when Minety had a player yellow-carded. Bradford made the most of their extra man and ran in a try to make it 10-5 at the break.

While Minety had travelled with their customary bare minimum of players, the home side had the luxury of a raft of substitutes to bring on in the second half. These fresh legs began to make a difference and while the visitors faded in the spring sunshine, Bradford ran in three more tries.

This was the last game for Minety stalwart Milo Hartley and for injured team captain Ben Scott. Both will be greatly missed next season.
