CHQ remain favourites for the league title but they had to work hard to overcome Poulton, who led for much of the game.
Steve Andrews gave Poulton the lead after 18 minutes with a fine goal from 20 yards, a lead they held comfortably for the remainder of the half.
CHQ showed more determination in the second half and equalised 15 minutes in when Mani Randhawa headed home a free kick.
They continued to exert considerable pressure for the rest of the game, and were rewarded when Troy Weaven netted the winner from close range with seven minutes remaining.
