The sunshine state has seen many successes for Cirencester racers and the latest
was Tony Shelbourn who won his age category and the Senior Grand Master trophy in the Robinson Preserve 5k.
In a field of more than 900 runners Tony finished 25th in a time of 20min 10sec.
Forest of Dean Trails Half Marathon
NEARER to home, the club had four representatives in the popular Forest of Dean Trails Half Marathon.
First in was Rupert Chesmore in 686th place out of 1,763 finishers in a very creditable time of 1hr 52min 48sec in the warm conditions of last Sunday.
He was followed by Karen Higuera (1:57.22), Liza Darroch (2:02.54) and Barbara Thomas (2:16.18).
THIS was Barbara's second race of the weekend as on Saturday she made her weekly trip to Swindon for the 5k Parkrun in Lydiard Park.
Cirencester's trio finished close together led in by David Moss, 103rd in 25.07, followed by Barbara 30 seconds later and then Lisa Carpenter in 26.17. All were well inside the top half of the record number of 353 finishers.
Clevewold 14-mile race
THE biggest challenge of the weekend was faced by Richard Hurdle who raced into 15th place in the Clevewold 14-mile race over Cleeve Hill and surrounding Cotswold hills.
Richard's next challenge will be rather different as he takes on the role of race director of next Sunday's Chedworth Roman Trail 10-mile multi-terrain race.
Chedworth Roman Trail entries can be obtained on Sunday morning at race headquarters in Chedworth Village Hall between 9am and 10am.
