LECHLADE'S Martin West has returned from the annual race week of the Downhill Only Ski Club in Wengen, Switzerland with two trophies.

West won the Open Cup as fastest holiday skier and the Big John Cup, given to the second fastest overall in the McMillan Cup, a mass-start, 2.5 mile downhill ski race. The Downhill Ski Club (DHO) will be celebrating its 90th anniversary in 2015 and apart from its ski racing activities, the club is proactive in working with children who want to become ski racers or just enjoy skiing, through competitions such as the British Schoolboys’ Races and the club’s own young people’s race training programme.
