AFTER taking an early lead Poulton were under pressure for much of this game, but held on for a good win in the end.
Cirencester League Div One
South Cerney 1
Poulton 2
With a stiff breeze in their favour, Chris Mulcock gave Poulton a fifth-minute lead, when the home side failed to deal with a cross from the right.
Cerney, however, came back to put the visitors under considerable pressure and were rewarded when James Hayward headed home a free kick on 40 minutes, before Poulton restored their lead on the stroke of half-time when Mulcock got his second goal in similar circumstances.
Cerney pressed forward during a tense second half but Poulton, who gave a solid and spirited performance, held on for the points.
