PLAYED on a bumpy pitch, this wasn't an advert for the passing game, but Stratton U16s won comfortably in the end despite not playing well – the mark of a good team.

STRATTON YOUTH F.C. ROUND-UP

Chiseldon U16s 1

Stratton Youth U16s 6

Chiseldon U16s took the lead after three minutes courtesy of another Stratton defensive mix-up.

The Stratton lads then woke up and started to battle away, being rewarded on 15 minutes when they scored direct from an Ashley Organ corner.

Some superb pass-and-move football by Stratton was being spoilt by some terrible tackling by the home side.

Stratton were rewarded on 26 minutes when James Pitt converted a penalty, awarded after another rash challenge.

The second half was more one-way traffic. With the sun and wind now behind them, Stratton took full advantage with two quick goals from Sam Grafton and Alfie Smith. This settled the game down and allowed Stratton to play with more freedom. A spate of contentious offside decisions threatened to spoil proceedings before Jamie Jel added a quick-fire brace with five minutes to go.

MoM: Nathan Indge for coping really well as a makeshift left back.

Liden U15s 2

Stratton Youth U15s 3

STRATTON were lucky to come away with victory against a spirited Liden side.

Stratton started brightly, but as in previous weeks squandered numerous chances. They were punished twice in quick succession through breakaways after poor defending, and Liden went into half-time 2-0 up.

The second period found Stratton camped for the most part in the oppositions' half. Again a mixture of poor shooting and fine goalkeeping denied the away side. Finally Dec Selby knocked the ball in with 20 minutes remaining, and shortly after Ben Knowles fired in a low shot to equalise.

It stayed like that until a minute from the end when Knowles made a fine run and his ball across found Sam Wright who hooked the ball in to win a very close encounter. MoM: Matt Keylock, Sam Wright.

King's Stanley U14s 4

Stratton Youth U14s (blue) 2

AN inspired second half performance from Michael Cook, who scored one and created another for Jack Sheridan, was not enough to prevent defeat to a good Stanley team.

Meanwhile, the U14s white team lost heavily to top-of-the-table Ashton Keynes.

Wootton Bassett U13s 2

Stratton Youth U13s 4

ANOTHER good performance from this fast-improving team saw them win all three points, with goals from Jack Tysom (2), Kieran Walton and Tiyree Phillipson.

The home team's Joe Mitchell bagged both Bassett goals.

MoM: Jamie Witt.

Stratton Youth U11s 1

Swindon Centurions U11s 3

STRATTON started the match fast and scored when Kian Hawtin slid in Josh Littler Jennings to make it 1-0.

They kept pressing but couldn’t add any more goals.

After half-time Stratton took their foot off the gas allowing the Centurions to score three goals and Stratton rarely troubled the Centurions' keeper but they did hit the side netting a minute from time.

MoM: Fred Hall.
