Rome Marathon

AN intrepid group of 17 RSE athletes will be competing in the Rome Marathon this weekend, including Laura Maddison who flies to the Moroccan Sahara straight after for the 29th running of the Marathon des Sables – 150 miles in six days and dubbed ‘the toughest footrace on earth'.

Four of the Rome group are running for charities and have raised more than £1,500 already.

Gloucester 20-mile

EIGHT RSE runners competed in the Gloucester 20-miler on Sunday.

Russell Young was first home for the club in 2.14.39. John Buck, preparing for the Rome Marathon this weekend, finished in 2.32.31. Other times: Dave Witnall 2.38.42; Graham Aitcheson 2.42.21 and Wayne Edgington 3.12.30.

Congratulations to Sharon Baldwin who finished first LV55 in a time of 2.48.15. Unfortunately, Dave Whitlow and Matt Lambourne had to pull out during the race due to injuries.

The Flying Monk 10-mile

MARTIN PITTS ran this 10-mile cross country race over the Charlton Park Estate in Malmesbury on Sunday. Martin completed the course in 1.21.25 to finish first in his age group.
