Uhlsport Hellenic Div One West
Old Woodstock Town 0
Purton 1
ALTHOUGH still under strength, Purton got back to winning ways on Saturday after three defeats with a 1-0 victory at Woodstock, writes Alan Eastwood.
This was a must-win game for Purton who have been slipping down the table.
The first half was a dreary affair with both sides creating only a couple of half chances, Purton's coming from Marcus Hall and Steven May.
The second half saw Purton step up their game and they were unlucky not have netted more than the one goal that earned them all three points.
The solitary goal was scored by May in the 67th minute when he raced through to pick up a great Ryan Child pass.
Either side of the strike, Hall was denied a goal after a brilliant header was ruled out for offside, Johnny Coole was denied twice by the home keeper, Scott Campbell shot over when well placed and Tom Swindall did likewise.
