TWO of the Performance Cycles girls' team, Jo Jago and Gemma Stuart, enjoyed top 10 finishes in the women's circuit race in Shrewsbury on Sunday.
A strong field took to the start line and the pace was high from the off with Gemma and Jo having to fight to hold their position in the bunch.
Around the halfway point, the race nearly came to an end for Gemma. Firstly, another rider moved up the inner catching her handlebars. Shortly afterwards a rider came down clipping Gemma’s back wheel.
With three-quarters of the race gone a break of three riders went clear, with both Jo and Gemma missing out.
Jo attacked and, along with a rider from another team, bridged the gap to make it five up front.
The quintet worked well together and stayed clear to the end. Jo then put in a huge effort to clinch a fantastic third place.
Back in the bunch, Gemma sprinted to complete a fantastic eighth place – a good day for the Performance Cycles team.
