DAVE BELL made it two wins in three years at the Blackminster Half Marathon – he also finished runner-up last year when he was under the weather.

Blackminster Half Marathon, Evesham, 13.1 miles roads.

Dave headed the field of 245 running 1:12.09, five minutes quicker than the second placed finisher but also more than five minutes faster than his 2013 time.

Dave adds this trophy to the Oxford Cross Country League senior men’s title he won last week.

Dam Buster Duathlon, Rutland.

WENDY NICHOLLS and Adrian Williams braved the wind and cold at Rutland Water to achieve their goal of qualifying for the 2015 European Standard Distance Duathlon.

In this gruelling, early-season event comprising a 10km run, 40km bike and 5km run Adrian finished 30th overall with a 34.27 run, a 1:11.00 bike and a final 16.54 run. Meanwhile, Wendy finished ninth lady overall and second in her age category; her times were 37.33 run, 1:24.46 bike and 18.55 run. A great start to the season for them both.

Salisbury 10 mile, roads.

RACHEL BARBER-BROCK broke her recently set PB by 25 seconds, finishing fourth lady, first senior lady and 107th overall in a competitive field on an undulating course. Rachel’s time was a nippy 1:07.22 and 694 finished. Nick Buis (Totton RC) won in 54.22.

The Groundhog Marathon, Telford, 26.2 miles, track.

A SECOND year for Martin Croucher to compete in what must be a mind-numbing 105.5 laps of a track but, always consistent, Martin pounded out the circuits to finish 28th, one minute faster than in 2013, in a time of 3:53.07. Simon Martin won in 2:56.32 and 62 finished.

At the Castle Combe Half Marathon, Barbara Thomas was first VW55 in 2:08.29 and 168th out of 198. At the Cheltenham Parkrun, Tony Shelbourn finished 16th in 20.45, first MV65 and second nationally. The winner was James Bellward in 17.35 and 271 finished.

CAC has a burgeoning juniors section and their training continues to pay off. Luke Buck represented the South West in the U12 ISA Cross Country Championships, coming in a creditable sixth out of 70 runners, helping the SW to third place overall. Kirsty and Luke Roberts qualified for the Inter Counties Nationals at Cofton Park and out of 350 runners both finished respectably in midfield.
