ROZ BAYNHAM has been selected to play for the Wales U18A lacrosse team at the forthcoming Home Internationals to be held in Newport at the end of March.

Roz, 16, has been playing lacrosse at Rendcomb College since the age of 11 and, in addition to representing the school, Gloucestershire and the South West, she began training with Wales at just 12 years old.

In last year's Home Internationals against England and Scotland, she was joint-captain of the Wales U18B team.

All-rounder Roz has also represented Gloucestershire in the Junior Academy Centre at hockey which she has now given up to concentrate on her favourite sport.

Roz is a key member of the Rendcomb 1st XII team which recently starred at the 2014 National Schools Championships.

Under the guidance of head of lacrosse, Karen Coups, Rendcomb outperformed a number of significantly bigger schools to reach the semi-finals.

In addition, Roz has just achieved her Level 1 coaching award, assisted coaching last year in a couple of summer lacrosse camps, and hopes to study sports psychology or sports science at university.

With more than half of the U18A team winning their first caps there are lots of untested combinations and Wales could yet prove to be the surprise of the tournament.

Fifteen-year-old Scarlett Jones, who is in the school team at Westonbirt School, has been drafted into the U18B squad for the home internationals.
