OLD CENTS hosted the Rams for an enjoyable game and emerged victors, despite Minch winning the first half 21-17.

Minchinhampton Rams 33

Cents’ superior support play and distribution told in the second half as their big units made holes in a determined Rams defence.

There was no disgrace in the scoreline, though, as Minch acquitted themselves well and should have scored more.

Though all players tackled tirelessly, not all followed Brookman’s excellent example of tackling low, and Minch could have used their overall speed advantage more.

Beaumont opened the scoring, running in after a turnover and quick, skilful distribution from half backs Eagles and Muskett caused Cents problems, as did Knight and the impressive Brookman, who scored two tries following good pressure on Cents defence.

The third quarter was best forgotten as Cents surged ahead, but a strong finish by the Rams, including excellent mauling from forwards Atkins, Burfoot and French and some storming runs from Reid set the platform for two more tries, with Beaumont getting his brace.
