THE University of Gloucestershire’s rugby league outfit, the All Golds, have signed former Toulouse player Craig Cook.

He will join the All Golds team for the forthcoming season which starts on Sunday , bringing a wealth of experience and knowledge to the squad in a vital position.

The 30-year old Hull-born player has had a successful career with Super League giants Hull FC, alongside a very successful Championship career with Sheffield Eagles, Doncaster and Dewsbury Rams.

Cook was in Hull’s full-time squad for two years, captaining their academy and reserve teams.

In 2010 Cook was named the Championship’s top hooker and selected for the ‘Championship Dream Team’ when playing for Sheffield Eagles, after scoring 20 tries in a single season.

This success led to Cook being signed by French side, Toulouse, for whom he played during the 2011 Championship season.

Cook said: “I am really looking forward to playing for the All Golds and playing under Brad Hepi.

"I am really keen on helping the team progress and build on last season, to spread the word and help the game grow in the South West.”

The All Golds have drawn one of the former giants of the game, Rochdale Hornets, in the third round of the famous Rugby League Challenge Cup.

The Hornets now play in the Championship, one division the All Golds.

The University of Gloucestershire hosted the draw on Monday evening.

The away tie at Rochdale will be played on the weekend of March 15 and 16.

All Golds captain, Mike Stewart, said: “Rochdale are a massive traditional name in rugby league, ever since the 1895 split. They are in our league, so there is a possibility of progressing to the next round where hopefully we may draw a Super League club.”
