OLIVER MOTT (Bristol and West AC) improved on his third place position last year to win the High Bridge Jewellers' Bourton 10k in 32.21 on Sunday.

Rachel Felton (Stroud AC) was first lady and 21st overall in 34.40.

The scenic, flat and fast race, organised by Bourton Roadrunners, is always popular – this year, its 500 places were snatched up within a record 24 hours. Runners faced strong winds but otherwise favourable conditions.

Many of Bourton's regular racers were marshalling, so the few club members who did take part had plenty of support from the sidelines.

Mike Hobbs was the first home for Bourton (39.14), followed by Lucy Walmsley (39.43 and third LV40), Rob Humphris (45.03), Alan Gibson (56.50) and Sue Whitehill (1:03.33).

The biggest cheers of the day were for Doug Reeve, who has overcome a difficult past year of illness and injury and finished in 1:08.02.
