WILL MORFORD goes straight into Cirencester Town’s matchday squad for the visit of struggling Guildford City on Saturday.

It is the second month-long loan spell at the Corinium Stadium this term for Morford, who finds himself slipping down the pecking order at Gloucester City again with the Swindon Town goal ace Connor Waldon.

The 19-year-old Waldon scored seven goals in 10 games on his previous loan stint with the Tigers earlier this season.

Despite an apparent lack of strikers at the County Ground – Nile Ranger is believed to be out for the season and Miles Storey has gone out on loan to Shrewsbury – Waldon has packed his kit bag again.

Cirencester Town manager Brian Hughes is delighted to have Morford back on board.

“We had Will for three games at the start of the season while he was doing his rehab from summer back surgery,” said Hughes. “But he looked a much sharper player when he joined in with training on Tuesday night.

“We always think of Will as one of our own anyway as he works as assistant to Steve Lowndes at the Cirencester Academy.”

Cirencester, six points behind table-topping Merthyr, whom they meet on Saturday week, but with three games in hand, maintained their excellent form with a 1-0 win at Wimborne on Saturday before yet another postponement at Taunton on Tuesday night will add to their hectic end-of-season schedule.

They beat Guildford 5-0 away earlier in the season and despite a new manager and a radical change of personnel, Saturday’s visitors were crushed 12-0 by Merthyr recently.

However, Hughes refuses to take them lightly. He said: “The form book suggested we should have beaten Fleet easily but we struggled to get a draw.

“We never treat any team lightly; having said that we are praying that this game can go ahead as it looks a good time to be playing them.

“We were a long way from our best at Wimborne, but I will take another scruffy 1-0 on Saturday.”
