RACHEL BARBER-BROCK (54th overall) is not only returning to fitness but also to her winning ways. Her time of 1:07.40 not only gave her third place in the women's section of the Wiltshire 10 but also an age-group win; and all at a distance that Rachel had never competed at before.

Wiltshire 10, Melksham – 10 mile road race

The Lungbuster, Royal Wootton Bassett, 9 mile Cross Country
AS THE name implies this is a challenging race and in the glutinous conditions it really lived up to its name.
It was excellent to see Amy Bentley (20th) don the CAC vest to race and come home 20th overall and third lady in 1:15.10. The ubiquitous Barbara Thomas (81st) battled with the conditions and ran a respectable 1:31.10. The winner was Stuart Henderson (Corsham RC) in 1:01.35 and 85 completed the course.
Bramley 20, Nr Reading, 20 mile road race
THREE intrepid friends run a series of longer races together and started their new season by returning to run the Bramley 20.
The route was dry, the sun shining and an inspired Rupert Chesmore set a new CAC MV55 age-group record by eight minutes, and also ran a PB.
Meanwhile, Martin Croucher had a 'good training run' as he escorted Liza Darroch to a PB and an inaugural CAC LV65 age-group record. All in all, a good day.
Results: 1, Anuradha Cooray (Vale of Aylesbury AC) 1:45.33; 408, Rupert Chesmore 2:49.14; 595, Liza Darroch 3:09.08; 597 Martin Croucher 3:09.09. 739 finished.
