Glos Reserve League - North Three
Minchinhampton Rams 0
Cainscross II 31
MINCH RAMS found it hard to gain a foothold against a very competitive Cainscross side in a game which was marred by the visitors’ second-half indiscipline.
With an early injury to Ben Reid, who had made strong inroads into the Cainy defence, and with Jake Lovell-Hewitt being summoned to the firsts on an adjacent pitch, Minch lost both fire-power and their fly half.
Despite competing well in set pieces, the Rams lost the ball at the breakdown too often, and Cainscross broke through to score three times in the first half, ineffective tackles failing to halt their big runners.
Minch resumed with strong spirit, the returning Prosser showing up well, along with Atkins, Anderson and Gale.
In the backs the tackling improved as Minch repelled Cainscross attacks.
The visitors then completely lost their discipline with several skirmishes and a wild unprovoked punch thrown, resulting in a red card. However, with Minch throwing caution to the wind, Cainscross managed two more tries.
