The Combined Services at Larkhill

ABLINGTON trainer/rider Mark Wall lifted one of point-to-pointing's four classic races, the Coronation Gold Cup, at Larkhill on Saturday thanks to the impressive success of Theatre Queen.

The seven-year-old sauntered home a long-looking 12 lengths ahead of useful yardsticks Bellsinni Ron and Rumbavu after leading at the top of the final climb.

Rumbavu had won the big race at the opening Cockleberry point-to point meeting at Aldsworth recently.

Theatre Queen had run in just five races before Saturday, winning four times and suffered her only defeat when left at the start at Wadebridge in December.

Wall reported that the mare will not be aimed at this season’s Cheltenham Foxhunter, but may appear at Cheltenham’s hunter chase evening on April 30.
