Gloucester Road Race Series

RUTH FULFORD and Barbara Thomas, of Cirencester AC, recently received their Gloucester Road Race Series medals.

Each runner has to run at least eight races in the 12-event series and CAC’s two racing stalwarts did more than enough to respectively win the gold in the FV65 and FV55 categories.

Ladies Captain.

ON the Club front, Jo Musk has taken over as Ladies' captain. Ciren has a strong ladies' team and with Jo returning to form they are looking forward to a successful year.

Ruth Fulford previously held the role and will now be able to focus on her task as club secretary.

Swindon Parkrun, 5km trails

THE weather was not as kind as last week but Gordon Jones of Cirencester AC continued his comeback at the Swindon Parkrun and knocked 40 seconds off of his previous week's time and was first MV60.

Barbara Thomas finished a strong second LV55 and Rachel Jones third LV60; Michael Thomas came in just behind as he returns to fitness.

Results. 1, Alan Meadows 18.04; 69, Gordon Jones 22.57; 73, Barbara Thomas 25.37; 164, Rachel Jones 27.26; 178, Michael Thomas 27.46. 381 finished.

Cheltenham Parkrun

RUTH FULFORD was once again first FV65 at the Cheltenham Parkrun, finishing in 163rd spot in 28.09. The race winner was Dmitry Nazarenko of Cheltenham Harriers in 17.05.

Stubbington 10km, near Southampton

CHARLOTTE BLAMPIED ran her first race and had moral support from long-time CAC runner mum Claire.

The Stubbington 10k proved a challenge but Charlotte said that she would definitely race again. Her time was 1:08.33 and she finished 1,438th out of 1516.

The winner was Alex Wall-Clark (Southampton Athletics Club) in 31.16.
