County Cup
Cirencester U16s 17
Frampton Cotterell 26
CIRENCESTER U16s dominated territory and possession only to undone by three superb individual tries.
It was again an experimental line-up for Ciren, who had just 16 available to Frampton's 23, but they made a bright start with Sam Cater and Will Doyle going close.
Against the run of play, two tries from turned-over ball gave the visitors an early lead.
Ciren again battered the visitors' goal line and after a number of close calls Luke Uzzell forced the ball over to make it 7-12 at the break.
For most of the second half Ciren pinned Frampton within their 22, with Bannister and Tom Elsey running strong lines to create chances.
A sucker-punch try from another long mazy run gave Frampton a two-score lead against which Ciren quickly responded when Will McHattie darted over from a short penalty move; Alex Moreing converted.
The front row of Johnny Kibble, Max Mallard and Marley Thorn were well on top and Tom Coid, and James Hyland both came close to another score until, out of nowhere, another Frampton individual try from distance gave the visitors the advantage.
Despite numerous positional changes due to injury, the hosts finished much the stronger and a second try from Uzzell set up a storming finale, although Ciren could not find another score.
