Some excellent saves in both halves by Purton keeper Devon Brown played

a big part in Purton's victory in a competitive match played on a sticky

surface.

The home side had the better of the first half, having two early efforts saved by

Brown and they went ahead after 18 minutes when keeper Brown unfortunately parried a shot straight to Booker Woolford who poked the ball in.

Ryan Child and Blaine Fitzgerald then both had efforts saved by the home goalie.

Corsham should have scored again after 32 minutes but Woolford blazed over the bar when well placed.

Purton started the second half really well with Fitzgerald going close after 50

minutes and they did level things up two minutes later when James Richards was

upended in the box and Marcus Hall converted the spot kick.

In the 62nd minute Fitzgerald hit a shot on the turn which went just wide. Corsham

responded with a close-range header over the bar.

The last ten minutes saw both sides striving to get a winning goal and after

Brown made three saves, Purton's Fitzgerald (twice), Tom Swindell (twice) and Richards all went close to netting.

With time running out however, Purton got the goal that saw them through to the semis when Fitzgerald, with some neat footwork in the box, placed a low shot past the home keeper.
