TETBURY student Jack Turner has completed a remarkable double in recent Gloucestershire county cross country events.

Turner, 16, from Sir William Romney's School, followed up his win in the Gloucestershire Combined Year 10 & 11 county title in December by seeing off the Year 12 & 13 champions at the Gloucestershire AAA Cross Country Championships held in Gloucester.

Turner took control from the outset and halfway into the three-mile course he had company from just one other rival. They continued to race hard over an extremely wet and muddy course but Jack’s determination won through and he pulled clear to win by more than eight seconds in a time of 17min 18sec.

Jack will now lead the Gloucestershire team of eight boys at the UK Inter-Counties Cross Country in Birmingham on March 8, which will be broadcast live on Sky Sports.
