NIGEL TWISTON-DAVIES' pleas on behalf of persistent non-starter Mad Moose fell on deaf ears at a disciplinary inquiry at the British Horseracing Authority in London last week.

The BHA have banned the 10-year-old from racing after he had either refused to race of been tailed off on no fewer than seven occasions, in Flat and jumping races, over the last 14 months.

The last straw for the BHA's disciplinary panel came when the gelding, trained by Twiston-Davies in Naunton, got up to his usual antics at the start in the BetVictor Tingle Creek Chase at Sandown on December 7.

Every attempt was made to get Mad Moose to take part and, although he did briefly set off, he would not race properly and pulled himself up before the first fence.

On his good days Mad Moose was able to amass more than £100,000 in win and place prize-money, his best effort being when chasing home Mount Athos in the Group Three Ormonde Stakes at Chester last May.

He has more than 3,000 followers on his Twitter page where he commented: "No decision has been made on my future til Nigel has spoken 2 my joint owners."
