SHARON LAWS was in tip-top form in South Africa ahead of joining her new road race squad, the UnitedHealthcare pro cycling team, for a training camp in the United States this weekend.

Sharon, from Bourton-on-the-Water, told the Standard: "I have just had a good weekend with a first place finish at the Origin of Trails two-day mountain bike race and then second place in the Die Burger road race the following day.

"I was a bit disappointed not to win Die Burger but it was a tight sprint finish."

Laws now takes a month off racing and heads to the States to meet her new team, pick up her new bike and equipment and take part in the training camp.

"I come back to South Africa on December 18 but just for a short time, before it is back to Girona (Spain) on Dec 30 and then we fly to Argentina on January 9 for our first race. So, it is all systems go."
