GFA Senior Amateur Cup
Cheltenham Saracens Res 2
Avonvale Utd 1
AVONVALE were knocked out of the county cup in a game where they had done enough to win.Playing against Cheltenham Saracens of Hellenic reserve league, Vale were by far the better team in the first half but could score only one goal.
And it was a cracker, Rich Jones dribbling past three defenders before smashing it into the top corner.
Sam Jenner and Mike Apperley also had chances to increase the lead but could not beat the keeper.
The second half was a total different story with Saracens pegging Vale back and they turned the game around in the final 20 minutes.
The equaliser came after a point blank save fell to an unmarked attacker, who prodded home. Then the winner came from a long ball over the top in a counter attack with the Saracens man skipping over one challenge before scoring.
