WITH Worcester City fresh from their JPL Cup win over West Brom Colts and Ciren on a decent run since September, all was set for a highly competitive game – and it did not disappoint.
Junior Premier League
Cirencester Town U13s 4
Worcetser City U13s 2
The first goal came from Ciren skipper Rhys Sarson who finished off a good move when neatly beating the keeper.
Worcester got back in the game when Louis Smith scored to make it 1-1 on eight minutes. Ciren had the majority of possession and territory in these early exchanges and added a second with a fine long-range effort from Sarson.
Towards the end of Q1, a fast counter attack resulted in Adam Thorn making it 3-1 to the hosts.
City fought their way back into the game, however, Ciren's organisation held firm.
Into the last quarter of the game, Worcester made it 3-2 through the impressive Daniel Sutton.
But Cirencester were not finished; Thorn was set free on the counter attack and though his first shot was saved, he followed up to complete a 4-2 win.
In the end, a well-deserved victory for Ciren against quality opposition.
