THREE Westonbirt girls will represent their countries on the lacrosse pitch.
Emily Brookes has been selected for the England U19s while her school team-mates, Katherine Edwards and Scarlett Jones, will play for Wales U19s.
The trio may face each other in opposing teams if they are selected to play in the World Cup next year.
"It's great to play together on the school side but we would love to take on each other in an international game," said Emily, who is captain of Westonbirt firsts and plays defence wing.
The 16-year-old from Malmesbury has been playing lacrosse for four years. Her dream is to get her first cap for England.
"I used to play rugby but as I got older I decided I wanted to try something else," she said. "I chose lacrosse because it is such a fast-moving sport and is very physical."
Katherine, 15, from Didmarton, plays mid-attack and also hopes to play lacrosse at an international level.
"All three of us went on an U19s academy tour to the United States last summer," she said. "It was a fantastic experience and inspired us to focus on our playing."
Katherine will join 15-year-old Scarlett at a Wales training camp at Bristol University during the half-term holidays.
"The camps are hard work. We have to continue to fight for our places on the teams so it is competitive but makes us more determined to succeed," said Scarlett.
Lizanne Johnson, director of sport at Westonbirt, said: "At U18 and U21, I was captain of the England team. It's a wonderful experience to play for your country and the girls have worked hard for their places," she said.
