Purton suffered an early blow when their main striker Blaine Fitzgerald had to be replaced due to a groin strain.
Compared to recent matches, Purton were not at their best but the visitors rarely troubled the home defence.
The two goals were both scored by Fitzgerald's deputy Scott Campbell, one in each half.
His first came after 31 minutes when he converted a Leigh Brown cross.
Purton created several other opportunities but their second goal did not arrive until the 70th minute when, after a great run and cross by Ryan Child, the pull back was volleyed in by Campbell.
Both Darren Brown and Tom Swindall, returning from recent injuries, came off the bench in the second half.
