SWINDON Wildcats players Ollie Betteridge and Sam Godfrey have been selected for the GB U20s squad for this winter's World Championships.
Both players will form part of Peter Russell's final 22-man squad after impressing the GB U20s head coach during training camps as well as during a recent European tournament.
"I'm so happy to have made the squad," said a delighted Betteridge.
The 17-year old Nottingham Panthers player, who ices for the Wildcats in a two-way deal, has previously featured for the GB U18s in their 2012-13 World Junior Championship Division 2A games.
Godfrey, on the other hand, has already played for the U20s in the World Championships, but he was also excited at the prospect of pulling on the GB jersey again.
"It's an honour to be given the opportunity to represent your country and I can't wait to get started in Dumfries," he said.
The tournament takes place at the Dumfries Ice Bowl between Monday, December 9 and Sunday, December 15, meaning they will miss the Wildcats' home fixture against the Basingstoke Bison on Saturday, December 14.
GB will compete in a group with France, Italy, Kazakhstan, Japan and the Ukraine.
