Dorset & Wilts Div 1 North
Pewsey Vale 10
FAIRFORD gave a fine all-round performance to beat Pewsey Vale comfortably and continue their promising start to the season.
Fairford were soon into their stride as Dafydd Roberts touched down out wide after some nimble footwork and excellent distribution from Tom Robinson.
Fairford, still stinging from their loss to Chippenham, set about putting Pewsey Vale to the sword in a first half that brought seven tries in total.
There were two scores from PJ Dee, a brace from Mike Wrona and tries from Paul Allen and captain Ben Goodey, all of which were converted by the metronomic Andy Waite, who finished his day's work with a haul of 18 points.
The second half started in much the same way as the first with concerted pressure from Fairford allowing Simon Waite to put Goodey over for his second of the day.
Pewsey Vale then came back strongly and, after some repeated pressure on the Fairford line, they eventually got just reward with two tries of their own.
Spurred back into action, Fairford then finished the contest with two late tries, strong running from Fairford's pack allowing first-half provider Ben Crocker to go over near the uprights while a second score for Roberts rounded off the day with a 68-10 victory. MoM: Ben Crocker.
