Poulton have consequently slipped from top to fourth in the league.
Jake Peglar gave Oaksey the lead after 35 minutes, and things got worse for the home side as Dan Price made it 2-0 just three minutes after the break.
Despite plenty of effort, Poulton found it difficult to put any pattern to their game and their shooting was generally well off target.
Andrew Pritchett, however, pulled one back on the hour but Price made it 3-1 with ten minutes remaining.
Poulton finished strongly and Tom Carpenter gave them hope at 3-2 with five minutes left on the clock, but they could have few complaints at the result.
