In a competition the club has won seven times and been runners-up twice, the 2-1 victory extended Purton’s recent win sequence to five games.
This was an excellent all-round team performance by Purton who missed several other good chances, saw two efforts cleared off the line, hit the woodwork and were denied by a number of good saves from the home keeper.
However, Purton found themselves behind after just three minutes when, from a corner, Lovesey put Calne ahead. Eight minutes later, though, Purton were level when a corner by Dave Gee was powerfully headed in by centre back Nick McCrae.
On 20 minutes, Purton should have been two up but after Ryan Child had been fouled in the box, skipper Marcus Hall saw his spot-kick saved.
In the 79th minute, Purton got the goal that put them through to the next round when good work by Blaine Fitzgerald set up Johnny Coole, who crashed a shot into the roof of the Calne net.

PURTON Reserves manager Tony Webb was left disappointed by his side’s 2-0 away defeat at Corsham.
Purton never really got their act together and frustration set in as three players went into the official’s note-book, completing a dismal afternoon for the club’s second string side.
