MINETY RFC mini section kicked their season off in style at the Swindon Festival on Sunday, with some superb performances across all age groups.
The festival, now in its second year, attracted more than 200 young players representing eight clubs from across Berkshire and Wiltshire.
Top honours on the day went to the Minety U9s squad, with one team taking the winners’ cup and the other team bringing home the Sportsmanship Trophy.
Minety B remained unbeaten in their pool games and then took on Devizes in a nail-biting final. With the score at 2-2, Minety managed to sneak the win with a try in the last play of the game.
Not to be outdone, the U7s tournament saw Minety’s youngest players make their mark on their competitive debut. Minety were able to field four teams and again earned the Sportsmanship Trophy for their excellent attitude throughout the day.
Minety U8s, U10s and U11s also put in some excellent performances with a host of tries and some great results in their pool games.
MINETY RFC mini section is always on the lookout for new players. The club currently caters for around 250 players and has 37 coaches. It remains one of the few clubs that make provision for both boys and girls between the ages of five and 18.
If you are interested in taking up this fun and energetic sport, training takes place on Sunday mornings 10.30am-12pm at Minety Playing Fields. For further details email firstname.lastname@example.org.
