THE training is certainly paying off with five out of the 16 RSE runners who competed in the Cricklade Half on Sunday achieving PBs.RUNNING SOMEWHERE ELSE
Cricklade Half Marathon
With only two events to go in the club championship race, a battle between Mark Garrett and Russell Young for maximum club points saw Mark just edge ahead when he finished in 1:24.07, with Russell 15 seconds behind in 1:24.22.
Simon Bowers and Sharon Smith finally achieved new PBs with Simon finishing in 1:27.06 and Sharon in 1:43.12, with Sharon picking up the ten points for the ladies.
Ivor Probert, having recorded PBs in his last few races, did it again by crossing the line in 1:42.03. James Thomas also continues to improve with his PB of 1:27.40, as does Liz Coombs 1:58.18 and Pauline Tilbury 2:06.31.
OTHER TIMES: Nick Duncan 1:35.52, Sharon Baldwin 1:44.22, Sharon Rastelli 1:46.54, Paul Coates 1:53.51, Elaine Chapman 1:53.58, Kirsty Pitts 2:06.3, Jenny Hoffman 2:22.56 and Louise Abbott 2:24.48.
MIKE PRIMETT and Martin Pitts took on the 10k at Cricklade on Sunday with Mike finishing in 40.10 and Martin in 43.42.
CLUB coach Dave Whitlow and Andy Sampson both needed to complete the Chester Marathon in under five hours to qualify for next June's Comrades in South Africa. Dave finished in 3:34.10 and Andy in 3:50.03 so both qualify for the 51-mile race.
CONGRATULATIONS to Teresa Hazelwood and Sophie Dennett who completed 26 miles for the first time. Teresa crossed the line in 4:14.46 and Sophie in 4:29.45.
