Gloucester League Cross-country, Cotswold Farm, Guiting Power.

WENDY NICHOLLS limbered up for the cross country season with second place overall in the ladies' race behind Holly Rush of Team Bath; Wendy was first LV40 and 125 finished. In the men’s race, Martin Croucher was 110th out of 228; Matt Bond, Sale Harriers, won.

The ever-improving Matt Crew was second in the MU17s and brother Simon was 16th out of 53 in the MU13s.

Ben Woodstock was 46th and Samuel Alcott 52nd in a large field of MU11s. Phoebe Matthews was 21st out of 51 in the LU11s.

Cricklade Half Marathon, 13.1 miles roads.

IN-FORM Dave Bell bettered his recent Cheltenham effort to win by more than four minutes. Rachel Barber-Brock was third lady, finishing with a PB and an age-group win. Adrian Lawson also ran a PB and Karen Higuera and Martine Marriot both came in under the two hours.

Results: 1st Dave Bell 1:11.07, 52 Rachel Barber-Brock, 53 Adrian Lawson 1:32.27, 192 Karen Higuera 1:58.09, 196 1:58.59. 289 finished.

Cricklade 10km roads.

ADRIAN WILLIAMS, after a successful tri season, finished third in 34.30. Late entry Simon Campbell was fifth and Joe Barrowclough ninth, just ahead of David Wright, who was 1st MV50.

Fi Collings had a convincing ladies' win breaking her PB by a minute and leading home Kate Fitton and Barbara Thomas (2nd LV50). Adrian Lawson, Colin Tapley and James Widdowson also set PBs.

Royal Parks Half Marathon, London, 13.1 miles roads.

A DELIGHTED Clare Blampeid ran a consistent race, achieving a massive PB to finish 588th in 2:15.09. The winner was Ryan McKinlay, 1:09.07. 14,841 finished.

Cardiff Half Marathon, 13.1 miles, roads.

RICHARD HOBBS’ goal was to get under 90 minutes and he he made it, just, in 1:29.58, finishing 588th of 14,000 finishers. Loitarakwai Lengurisi, of Kenya (1:01.51) won.
