RUGBY: Fairford lose heavily to league leaders

Chippenham II 55
FAIRFORD endured a steep learning curve when they came across league favourites Chippenham.
Chippenham scored immediately from the kick-off and soon added a couple more tries.
Fairford did manage to stem the flow in the middle of the half and were unfortunate to muster only an Andy Waite penalty as they failed to use their considerable size up front to their advantage.
Chippenham were far more drilled and skilful out wide but when the ball was in tight the Faiford pack performed well at the set piece, including a 20-yard scrum from the visitors.
Towards the end of the game Chippenham showed their class and scored several tries late on.
Despite the result there were still exceptional performances from Ben Crocker once again and the returning Tom Lovett.
There weren't many positives to take for coach Josh Lenthall except knowing that is the sternest test the team will face all season.
“Facing basement team Pewsey Vale on Saturday should provide Fairford an opportunity to get back to winning ways,” he said.
