Cirencester Park 10km, roads
A BEAUTIFUL autumn day, vocal support around the course and a great atmosphere created a truly classic Cirencester 10k.
With 498 finishers, 21 CAC runners and an enormous number of marshals, the club did itself proud, despite some glitches with the chip timing. Sadly, with so many Ciren runners we can’t mention them all.
Steve Emery (31.34) of Coventry Godiva, brother to Ciren’s Jo Musk, won and set a new course record, nine seconds faster than Cheltenham’s Dave Roper last year.
Ciren’s Dave Bell (32.08) ran an impressive PB to finish third, ahead of battling fifth place Chris Illman (33.24) and 11th-placed Denis Galerin (35.11) but this team were just beaten by Cheltenham.
Matt Crew (35.47) was 13th overall and third junior; his time was three minutes faster than his PB set here last year. Ciren’s Rachel Barber-Brock (41.59) set a PB and was 61st overall and ninth lady. Ruth Fulford was 2nd FV65. The winning lady, Gwen Kinsey (38.29) of Stroud AC, added this victory to her three Westonbirt 10km wins.

ADRIAN WILLIAMS (2:00.21) finished fourth in his category and automatically qualifies for the 2014 European Championships in Kitzbühel. His bike and run have been strong and he knocked nearly five minutes off his swim – now a winter’s training beckons.

Robin Hood Half Marathon, Nottingham, 13.1 miles, roads
