RUGBY: Rams christen new ground in style

Minchinhampton Rams 15
Stow II 5
CAPTAINED by the ever-vocal Gino Beaumont, the Rams fielded a full and talented side with many old faces returning, notably Varley, Fisher, Eagles and Weaver.
The pack made their presence felt with thumping runs from the man-of-granite French and raging bull Fraser.
They dominated Stow at the breakdown through Prosser, and in the scrum. This enabled Eagles to deliver quick ball for the backs, with strong running from Jenns, Dowie and Langford. Weaver secured a place in club history evading numerous tackles to score the much-coveted first try at the new ground, then the pacy Jenns went over in the corner.
With replacements Clay, Athawes, Lunch and Richards on and strong runs from Baynham and Lord, Minch prospered, despite a Stow try. Rams camped in Stow's 22 for the final passages, until French powered over for the final score.
Best wishes for Dave Moore who broke his collar bone after another sterling performance.
