BOWLS: Bristol Greenbank lift County Mixed Pairs title

BRISTOL GREENBANK became the first holders of the Ken Griffin Cup as they captured the Gloucestershire Mixed Pairs title held at Barnwood BC with a decisive 24-6 win over Painswick in the final.
Bristol Greenbank (Sue Humphries and Gerry Coffield) won seven out of the first eight ends to take commanding 9-1 lead and never looked back. After dropping a three on the ninth end they turned up the heat and won the next seven ends which included two threes and two twos to lead 22-4. Another two shots saw them take the title 24-6.
The Moreton / Churchdown pair of Jenny Stanfield and Peter Bryant had to settle for fourth when they lost out to the other beaten semi-finalists, Barnwood, in a play-off.
Barnwood went five down to the Moreton/Churchdown duo before coming back to lead 9-6 after picking up a four on the eighth end. Opening up a 15-9 lead after 15 ends they then bagged a five two ends later and went on to win 23-12.
