Stroud & District Div 1.
Avonvale Utd 2.
King’s Stanley Res 1.
AVONVALE were not at their best but nonetheless came away with a win.
King’s Stanley started brightly and caused problems from the off. Vale then settled, started creating chances and made the breakthrough.
An inswinging corner caused problems for the King’s Stanley keeper and the ball dropped to Jake Harrison, who rifled it into the net.
Stanley then equalised when Vale switched off at a free kick, which was taken short and eventually bundled home. Stanley then had a couple of chances to take the lead, first from a header and then a one-on-one, from which Lloyd Price in the Vale goal made a save.
In the second half, it was a midfield battle until an inspired change from manager Mark Evans saw Sam Jenner come on and immediately cause problems.
It was his free kick into the box that was prodded home by Sam Parker after a flick-on from Michael Apperley.
The last quarter of the game saw no clear-cut chances as Vale collected all three points.
