EMMA-KATE LIDBURY finished 14th in the Ironman 70.3 World Championship in a wet Las Vegas on Sunday.
The Cricklade triathlete, who now trains permanently at Santa Monica in California, emerged from the swim in sixth place and was part of a small chasing group behind the leaders on the bike section.
She dropped from 11th to 14th on the run to complete in a time of 4hr 39min 23sec.
Emma-Kate, who had been hoping for a podium finish, tweeted: “That was a tough, tough day. Not the result I wanted, but hung in there. These are the days that make you. I'll be back.”
The unprecedented weather conditions – when the rain passed the run section became a humid sauna – did not prevent Aussie Melissa Hauschildt from putting on a world class display to win by more than five minutes in 4:20.07.
