EVENTS Logic UK's final event at the Cotswold Lakes will take place on September 15 with a Standard Triathlon. On Sunday however, athletes efforts focused on an open water swim, with some taking part in the marathon 10km event.
With few and far between races of this distance, Events Logic UK hosted a 10km marathon swim, with 5km, 3.8km and 1.5km as shorter distances, for those aiming to better their triathlon distances.
Ruth Hall who lead the field from start to finish, averaged just under 15 minutes per km in her efforts to secure the first female and the overall win for the race finishing in 2:28:25. Closing the ladies field, in a real test of endurance was Karen Davies who set herself the challenge to swim this marathon and completed after 5:37:41. Martyn Powell was the leader of the men’s race in 2:53:02.
In the 5km event, again lead by the ladies, Katie Nimmo of Gloucester Masters splashed her way around in a streamlined time of 1:05:02, finishing ahead of Paul Shephard, and in third place John Wood, last years 10km winner.
The distance we all know, commonly referred to as 'the ironman' where 3,800 metres will bring you to the finish line. Chris Stuart who represents The Army Triathlon Team, a local top level athlete stormed his way around in just over 50 minutes, three weeks before his big ironman race in France next month. The ladies winner, Rosanna Lloyd made way in just under the hour.
The 1,500 metre course, set ready for the standard triathlon next month was a tense finish between both male and female winners. Justin Palfrey finished in 19:37, with Ross Kent just 27 seconds later.
The ladies race was a photo finish, with such a close competition, Natalie Thomas just crept in with a time of 20:12.10 and sixteen year old Lucy Brain from Swim Bournemouth in 20:12.40.
Events Logic UK's season will draw to a close in October with Bowood Duathlon set in the stunning grounds of a private estate house where competitors will race on a closed circuit course, followed by The Wadworth Devizes Half Marathon, where we will be raising money for Bag4Sport charity who are based in the town
