CIRENCESTER'S Josh Day was hampered by an asthma attack at Oulton Park in the eighth round of the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 Championship, writes Alannah Fellows.
Despite being less than a second off pole position, Day could qualify no better than 13th on the grid, and the 25-year-old struggled during the race, crossed the line in 14th.
Day said: "Despite the result it was a good weekend.
"I was only 0.8sec off the front row in qualifying and I was feeling confident for the race and eager to get going.
"I forgot to take my asthma inhaler before the start of the race and halfway through I was struggling to get the air and oxygen I needed and tired quickly. "I wanted to keep pushing but I lacked energy. I was glad to finish and get in the points.
"It was a positive weekend though because my race pace was good, the team are working well and there is a really good team atmosphere. "The result didn't reflect how things had gone this weekend."
The ninth round of the championship is at Cadwell Park in Lincolnshire on August 26.
