Tetbury 147 all out Poulton 148-4 .
POULTON got their promotion charge back on track with a comprehensive six-wicket win against Tetbury.
After winning an important toss on a green pitch, Poulton put Tetbury in to bat and kept the run rate down early on with a combination of tight bowling and good fielding.
Two early wickets from Oliver Newman and another from Neil Ferreira put Poulton firmly in control with Tetbury reaching 65-3 at the halfway stage. A good rebuilding partnership from S Baverstock and James Meacham frustrated Poulton before Luke Newman continued his habit of breaking important partnerships, dismissing Meacham thanks to a fantastic catch in the deep from James Buse.
Jason Stevens and Ryan Higgins then ripped through the bottom order, dismissing Tetbury for 147, with Higgins finishing with 5-24.
Poulton lost the early wicket of Auster for a duck, but Buse continued his good day by smashing 32 from 27 balls to give Poulton a great platform, before falling to Meacham with the score on 60.
This allowed U15 Robbie James, batting at three, to play himself in and despite a couple of wickets in quick succession – Ferreira (13) and Higgins (0) – leaving Poulton at 88-4, Jon Maunder came in to join James and played a counter attacking innings to take the game away from Tetbury completely. Maunder finished on 41* in very quick time and James was 43* in an innings of maturity and composure beyond his years to steer Poulton to a much-needed win ahead of the big game against Division 2 leaders Birdlip on Saturday.
