Cafearo has good day with the boot for rampant Stow
12:06pm Monday 18th February 2013 in Sport
Berks/Bucks & Oxon Premier.
Stow-on-the-Wold 76 Risborough 7.
STOW secured another bonus point win against a very determined Risborough side who never gave up.
Stow started strongly and early pressure resulted in a break by Craig Chapman, with the supporting Chris Powesland on hand to score; Nick Cafearo converted.
The second try was a cracker with the ball going through several pairs of hands before Hugo Griffiths scored, with Cafearo again adding the points.
A Stow fumbled as they tried to run the ball out of their own 22 led to a converted Risborough under the posts.
Normal service was soon resumed as an attempted Risborough clearance from the restart was charged down by James Holmes who touched down under the posts; Cafearo again converted.
The bonus point try came from Alex Kelly who picked up the loose ball and ran in from distance.
From the restart, Stow kept possession and after several phases, the ball went down the line for Tom Davies to score in the corner. The final try of the half was started and finished by Chapman, with Cafearo’s boot proving accurate with the conversion.
Stow did not let up in the second half: great interplay saw second row Powesland race in from distance and more good ball retention saw Holmes break down the right and score; Cafearo added two more conversions.
It was Cafearo’s turn to score a try in the corner after Kelly had taken play deep into Risborough territory.
The visitors did not stop competing and had a good period of play but could not break Stow down.
The hosts hit back with the forwards driving up field with Holmes able to score in the corner; Cafearo added the extras.
Powesland then scored his third try after a great break from Davies and once more Cafearo’s kicking was spot on.
The final play of the game saw the ball run through several pairs of hand before Davies beat two defenders to score in the corner.
