Purton 3 Letcombe 3.
LAST Saturday's game at the Red House saw the two relegation-threatened sides, Purton and Letcombe, share the points in a 3-3 draw, writes Alan Eastwood.
Going into the game on the back of six straight league defeats, Purton led 3-1 after 67 minutes when three points looked in the bag, but Letcombe fought back to net twice in the last 20 minutes.
At the halfway stage, Purton had been 1-0 down, Adam Bruce netting for the visitors.
Two minutes into the second half, however, Purton levelled when a great cross from the right by Stephen Avenell was brilliantly headed in by Marcus Hall, who injured himself in the process.
Skipper Hall carried on until having to come off after an hour, soon after a good pass by Ryan Child was latched on to and netted by Jamie McGahey.
Purton's third came when a Dave Gee corner was headed on by Ryan Child and Ashley Gooch netted from close range.
Letcombe pulled a goal back through Adam Pendle on 69 minutes and on 82 minutes they equalised after a handball in the box by Purton's Jamie Richards that saw him red-carded; Bruce then converted the spot kick.
In the final few minutes, the referee sent off Letcombe's Mark Denny for a bad tackle and yellow-carded Luke Stone and Bruce.
